My Mother Told Me

First song I’ve recorded using Garageband.

My mama told me,
“Son, ya gotta understand,
you’re getting’ older,
won’t be too long till you’re a man.

Soon you’ll be goin’
and leave behind your family
and I want you to know son
just what it is you mean to me.

F-A-I-L-U-R-E
You’re a failure it’s plain to see
Sorry dear, there’s no doubt
and to make it clear, have to spell it out
You’ll never be like all the rest
S-U-C-C-E-S-S”

Well that’s a good thing to know, mom.
It gives me such a sense of worth
But I really must be goin’
I ’m wanted back on planet earth

So I stole my daddy’s tractor,
Found a brand new family.
Joined a commune in Nebrasker
Ate organic LSD

Everyone hallucinated
Like they was Salvador Dali
I was so uncreative
I saw The Beaver and Wally
apparitions did appear
Eddie Haskell in the mirror.

F-A-I-L-U-R-E
I’m a failure, it’s plain to see
Could not get high like I wanted
was psychedelic intolerant
I’m not like all the rest
S-U-C-C-E-S-S

My body was in ruins
so I gave up drugs and alcohol
I found a life, a brand new one
At an Ashram in St Paul

I let go of all the drama
guru llama gave me help
gave to me a mantra
all day I say it to myself

“F-A-I-L-U-R-E
You’re a failure it’s plain to see
there’s no chance I’ll understand
how to clap with just one hand

I’m not like all the rest
S-U-C-C-E-S-S
