It’s not that dark before the dawn

It’s not that dark before the dawn
Astaire and Rogers could not dance
I will not miss you when you’re gone

Mozart’s life went on and on
There’s not a decent bakery  in France
It’s not that dark before the dawn

My yard is greener than your lawn
Donald Trump never rants
I will not miss you when you’re gone

A queen is weaker than a pawn
You look so thin in your new pants
It’s not that dark before the dawn

No subtly to Sarah Vaughn
Discordant are monks’ chants
I will not miss you when you’re gone
Shakespeare never said perchance
Las Vegas is an even chance
It’s not that dark before the dawn
I will not miss you when you’re gone

Throughout November I am writing a poem every day as part of an effort to raise funds for The Center For New Americans. If you like the poems (or even if you don’t) and would like to support this fantastic organization, please follow this link. Thanks.
