Too many dogs too many ukuleles
Too many jog make me feel lazy
Too many “Awwww!” Facebook baby
Too many dogs too many ukuleles

Too many canines, too many chords
Too many great times I can’t afford
Too much Brooklyn too many beards
Too many good lookin’ not enough weird

You might say there are too many cats
Alright OK, I’ll give you that
Yeah cats have moods but are easily shooed
with snouts about dogs are rude

Why would I say too many ukes?
Easy to play and sound so cute
It’s just my thing I could be wrong
About too many 4-string, sing-along songs

Too many movie scenes set in Texas
Too many beauty queens so sexist
Too much hate and too much Brexit
Too many people takin’ early exits

Too many citizens do not flinch
Too many amphibians never be a prince
Too many who will never give an inch
Not enough Who and too much Grinch

Too many ways to reach new lows
Too many days I wear the same clothes
Too many issues still unvaried
Too many “wish you and me weren’t married”

Too many got no amazing grace
Too many plots have a high-speed chase
Too many pop songs I can’t place
And too many cops wrong about race

Too much echinacea too much kale
Too much “Holiday Amazing Sale!”
Too much Fox, too many listeners
Too many cell blocks too many prisoners

Too many emails too many texts
Too many whales never have sex
Too many beaches covered in waste
Too many peaches got on taste

Too many massive catastrophes
Too many fascists if you’re askin’ me
Too little love too much fear
Not enough “it can’t happen here”

Too much poetry too much rhyme
He should know there’s so little time
Too many stanzas too many syllables
He should understand our time is billable

Too little hope not enough saviours
Too much rope and too many razors
But I gotta go on cause every day
Gotta walk my dog and play ukulele

Throughout November I am writing a poem every day as part of an effort to raise funds for The Center For New Americans. If you like the poems (or even if you don’t) and would like to support this fantastic organization, please follow this link. Thanks.
